Going forward technologies relationship with us as a society is on and off. To be honest, there are many instances where technology is the main problem of our lives via cell phones, computers, AI, etc. These instances are unintended meaning they weren’t really thought of or brought to our consideration. Examples of this can include cyberbullying, cheating, hacking illegally, etc. A good representation of this can be found in a YouTube music video called Mad World Remix of Moby Video published by Jullian West and made by the group Tears For Fears. This video does a good job explaining the downside of technology with lots of hidden secrets in the background and references that point to the negatives of technology. There is also some good that can come out of having technology not all is bad, this can be calling for help, searching for information, and making friends. Studies show that 85% of Americans use technology there is also 31% who report going online almost constantly, as well as 48% who say they go online several times a day. So this goes on about how you use technology yourself making smart and responsible decisions to better your future and maybe the other person.
People can use technology to take data, and personal information and mischief. I brought this recent topic up in a previous blog post that talked about data privacy, this brought up the problem of how other countries not just the United States are in a way abusing this power. This can also be your digital footprint, which is something that is permanent, or your location which is information that is another way your information can be put out there on the internet. With cameras put up around cities where police departments gather info on where you've traveled and who you've been with, this does not stop hackers with bad intent from stealing this information and using it to cause harm.
Another problem with technology which is both good and bad is AI. This can not only help advance the medical field, construction, and studies. This can also be a major problem for this gives students the opportunity to make cheating easier. I have also talked about this topic in a recent blog post The Evolution Of AI, which talked about how AI in different countries including the United States is starting to evolve in making machines capable of doing human tasks with AI. The downside of this is having men replaced by machines and this makes it harder for people who work blue-collar jobs harder to maintain a steady flow of money for their families if not themselves. Now the United States of America is starting to take a stand on this problem. Compared to other countries, as of today, China is the best place for AI usage but, in terms of technology, the United States is ahead. The negative in China having everything being AI is that they show that there is so much data taken. Kai-Fu Li talks about how for AI to work it needs data and takes data to better build itself.
